The Portuguese Water Dog is great with children and adults as you can see!  They have very calm, well-mannered personalities and love adventure.  They are a great addition to any family. 

It is thought that the Portuguese Water Dog has been around since 700 B.C. along the steppes of Central Asia but it became popular in Portugal where they refer to them as "Cao de Agua" meaning "Dog of Water".

They are strong and have medium builds that make them able to work on land and in water for a long period of time and their coats range from all black, all white, chocolate (various shades), black and white or chocolate and white.

Loyal and energetic, these puppies need classes early on and a loving, consistent family.   

Porties are fun loving animals who just love people and water.  They behave very well with other animals and train very quickly.  They think of their people as their "animal pack" and are loyal as the day is long.  You simply can't go wrong with a Portie.  They will give you absolute years of love and joy and become a true member of your family!
